Junior Day Camp Report Thursday 28th - Saturday 30th July at PC field
The weather smiled on
us for Junior Camp this year in what proved to be a busy and fun 3 days. On the first day members were split into 3 riding
and stable management groups according to age and ability. The groups spent 2 hours riding and 2 hours on stable management
each day. Marie's stable management group completed their mini Riding and Road Safety achievement badge, Caroline's
group completed their mini Care of the Foot badge and Janeen's did Loading a Horse.
On the middle day Janeen's riding group saw a change of venue for the afternoon with a trip to the cross country
course at Liscombe Park. There they had the opportunity to jump a variety of XC jumps in an open field and menage and the
report the next day was that all had had fun and lived to tell the tale!
On the last day of camp all members took part in a combined training competition. Riders completed either a walk
and trot or a preliminary dressage test in the morning followed by a course of jumps in the afternoon. All rode fabulously
in what proved to be a hotly contested competition.
The camp ended with prize giving where awards were presented, per riding group, for the compeition as well as best
turned out, best pony club pony, best camper and most improved rider. In addition Jess Raja-Brown was awarded the cup
for most promising combination, with her lovely pony Callie.
